Wetland plants from Bluedale wholesale nurseries – the specialists.
Bluedale personnel have the knowledge and experience you need. Since 1997 we have been supporting landscapers, developers and designers with their wetland projects. Our plant selection covers the core plants that are endemic to the the eastern states of Australia.
Common Sedges: a grouping of plants that are suited for growing in wet, boggy areas when wet and survive periodic drying during dry seasons. These plants often grow in riparian zones on the edge of lakes, rivers and creeks as well as ephemeral swamps and drainage lines from the coast to inland climates. Sedges are ideal for Rain Gardens as they soak up nutrients from stormwater runoff. They are also ideal for Constructed Wetlands and should form the foundation to any riparian re-vegetation project.
Landscape Sedges: we grow and supply sedgesthat have ornamental foliage and flowers and will provide interest in the landscape as features. Landscape Sedges blend perfectly with Native Grasses to provide colour and foliage variations and contrasts. They can also be used in Constructed Wetlands and Rain Gardens and they perform well as bio-filter plants while adding ornamentally to the design.
Macrophytes: aquatic plants that grow in or on the edge of saline and fresh water bodies. Macrophytes can be either emergent (growing above the water line), sub-mergent or floating. Macrophytes are an important component in both natural and constructed wetlands as they provide food and shelter for fish, aquatic invertebrates and water birds. Macrophytes also aid in the removal of nutrients from storm water runoff.
