Dodonaea viscosa, the Sticky Hop Bush, is a tall multi-stemmed dense shrub reaching a height of four metres. The leaves are linear, sticky, slightly wavy and slightly toothed.
It’s an extremely hardy species and is able to re-sprout from the base. Can tolerate dry conditions and can also handle some frosts. The stand-out feature is the brilliant colour of the capsules.
Uses: Hedging and screening

Flowering: Male and female flowers are held on different plants. The male flowers are insignificant but sometimes attract honey bees in large numbers, whilst the females develop into 3-winged capsules in spring.
