Imperata cylindrica – Blady Grass

A spreading rhizomes which gives it the ability to fill in gaps producing a complete ground cover. The foliage is a feature, khaki green during the year with red tones over winter.

Uses: Re-vegetation grass, groundcover, soil stabilisation.

Aspect: Imperata grows from full sun to 50% shade, suited to protected coastal aspects and inland climates. Imperata is cold tolerant to –10ºC, but will get frost burn, to be replaced.
Soil type: Sandy loam, through to clays
Planting rates: Tubes 5 to 7/m2
Maintenance: Low
