Pennisetum alopecuroides CREAM LEA®

A non-invasive grass with tall lime green foliage. It has slightly wider leaves compared to Purple Lea and holds its foliage colour better in winter. Tall clumping tussock with green foliage and straw colour tones in autumn and winter.

Uses: Cream Lea is great for Golf Courses, public and domestic gardens. Great for mass planting, accent planting (i.e. rockeries/borders). Plumes are suitable for dried arrangements.

Flowering: Autumn with foxtail like, cream to white flowers
Aspect: Cream Lea will grow in full sun and in up to 50% shade. Coastal aspects – best protected. Cream Lea is best planted in mulched gardens with watering during hot dry summers. Cold tolerant to -1ºC, the foliage will brown off in winter frost, greening again in spring. Soil type: Loam, clay loam and free draining light clay

Planting rates: Mass planting: Tubes 5 to 7/m2. Pots 3 to 5/m2 .Specimen planting: Tubes 3/m2. Pots 1 to 3/m2
Maintenance: Annual trimming in spring, when all frosts have finished, to 200–300mm above the ground. Fertilise with controlled release fertiliser after trimming to encourage fresh re-growt.
