Schoenoplectus mucronatus – Bog Bulrush – macrophyte

Schoenoplectus mucronatus grows in stationary and slow running fresh water along creeks, rivers, dams and lagoons. It is a common species occurring from the coast and northern inland areas. It makes a great specimen plant and has a lot of ornamental appeal.
A clump forming macrophyte with lime/green triangular foliage 

Uses: Assists with stabilisation near dams and waterways. Habitat for water birds. Excellent in mass plantings or as an ornamental plant to decorate ponds

Flowering: It flowers over summer with a cluster of seed heads near the top of the rush
Aspect: Grows in full sun to 70% shade. In the shade it tends to grow taller and more open. Grows in boggy ground to 500mm deep stationary and slow running fresh water.Soil type: Boggy ground.

Planting rates: Mass planting: 5 to 7/m2Maintenance: Prune to remove dead material and to promote new growth.
