Senecio mandraliscae – Blue Chalksticks

Blue Chalksticks (Senecio mandraliscae) is a very attractive, easy care spreading succulent that features fleshy, chalky blue finger shaped leaves. Like most Senecio, insignificant daisy like flowers will appear in Summer on long stems held above the foliage. A visually appealing plant, Blue Chalksticks maintains the true blue colour and looks great all year round. A fast grower, this delightful plants will quickly spread to form a carpet-like effect and fill in a large area, and only needs seasonal maintenance to nip off the flower stalks as they die off.

Super easy to grow and care for, Succulents require a gritty free draining potting mix or soil and minimal water.

Uses: Landscaping, indoor plant.

Flowering: enecio mandraliscae produces small white daisy-like flowers followed by typical dandelion-like seed puffs.

Aspect: Full sun to light shade. Drought Tolerant
Soil type: Prefers well draining soils and requires them in wet, humid climates.
Planting rates:

Maintenance: Remove dead flowers and stalks as desired. Plants should be removed and rerooted every three years or so. As the stem becomes longer it seems to grow slower. So every three years or so we dig up an area refresh it and replant with new cuttings. Don’t try this method during the peak summer months or all you get is fried cuttings. Better to refresh bed during mild months.
