Sporobolous virginicus – ’Sand Couch’
’Sand Couch’ or ‘Marine Couch’, is a low growing, rhizomatous or stoloniferous grass that is often mistaken for couch grass. Sporobolous can be found growing in sand dunes, the shore line of coastal lakes, littoral zones and salt marshes often growing within the tidal zone where it forms dense mats of grass. Large grass with green, upright to arching foliage.
Uses: Dune reclamation, coastline protection, grazing, alternative to lawn grass on saline, intermittently waterlogged soils where so few plants can grow
